John and Nancy Bliss, married 41 years.

John was raised in Detroit, Michigan and earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University before beginning his active duty career in the Army. While stationed at White Sands Missile Range and while conducting research at Los Alamos National Laboratory he became enchanted by New Mexico. After twenty-two years of service in the U.S. Army, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, Medical Service Corps and moved his family to Los Alamos.

John and his wife of 41 years, Nancy, live in White Rock and have raised four children, three of whom attended school in Los Alamos. He is an avid reader, gardener, fly fisherman, is active on county boards, and is a trustee at The United Church.

John would like Los Alamos to be an attractive place for young families to grow. His local children help to keep him informed of the specific needs families have. He is interested in finding solutions for affordable housing, day care and family friendly destinations in town.

John believes in action, integrity and accountability and will work to develop and implement greater strategies for economic sustainability while optimizing the value of our county spending. He has a proven track record of managing diverse teams while achieving effective results.
